NFL Predictions

A prediction of events and items to watch for throughout the season.

Team most likely to have a major drop off from last year:
Tie: Arizona Cardinals; Miami Dolphins.
1) Team that waaaaay out did expectations last year. Check
2) Easy schedule last year. Check
3) Difficult 1st place schedule this year. Check
4) History of team failing. Check
5) Rode a few good breaks to success last year. Check
I don't not see either team getting over .500 this year.
Honorable mention: Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos

Player most likely to have a down year:
Jay Cutler, QB Chicago Bears
He whined and complained until they finally found a team to take him. The Bears finally did but he didn't really look at the situation ahead of him. He has NO ONE to throw to now. He will still rack up the yards, but it will be because they will behind all the time
Honorable Mention: Anquan Boldin, WR Arizona Cardinals

Player most likely to have a return to All Pro:
Larry Johnson, RB Kansas City Chiefs
I know there has been a lot of fighting going on out in KC, but I think Johnson comes back big this year. So far, he is loving the new regime and the new offense they are installing. He only had 193 attempts last year so the wear and tear is not there as much (I know he was hurt). He averaged 4.5 yrds/carry last year as well. He turns 30 in November so he knows that this will be one of the last chances he has to prove he is an elite running back in the NFL.
Honorable Mention: Joseph Addai, RB Indianapolis Colts

Team most likely to return to playoffs:
Green Bay Packers
Everything is in place for this team to make a run. They only had 6 wins last year and will have an easier schedule this year. Aaron Rogers looks better in every game he plays and the defense if finally healthy again.
Honorable Mention: Seattle Seahawks

Team most likely to shock the NFL:
San Francisco 49ers
Expect to see them in the playoffs hunt all the way up to the end, and not just for the division crown. This team is on the brink of something, if they can just establish a solid passing game. Singletary has people believing in football again by the bay.
Honorable Mention: New Orleans Saints

Break-out Player of the Year:
Leon Washington, RB NY Jets
Thomas Jones was 5th in the league in rushing last year, but look for Washington to be getting more touches. Rex Ryan is already tingling with excitement over the prospect of Washington breaking one in the open field
Honorable Mention: Jonathan Vilma, LB New Orleans Saints
